ECEAP focuses on the well-being of the whole child by providing nutrition, health, education, and family support services. The goal of ECEAP is to help all children enter kindergarten ready to succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><strong>ECEAP provides:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><li>Early childhood education in full-day or extended-day classrooms.<\/li><li>Social and emotional development<ul><li>Nutritious meals and snacks<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Health screenings and connections to medical, dental, and mental health services,<\/li><li>Family support services<\/li><li>Parent education and leadership opportunities<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><strong>ECEAP gives priority to a child who:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><li>Will be in kindergarten the following year<\/li><li>Is in foster care or involved with the child welfare system<\/li><li>Is homeless<\/li><li>Is from a family with the lowest income<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background\">Who is eligible?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background\">Children 3 years and older or 4 years old by August 31 are accepted into ECEAP based on the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><li>From a family with an annual income at or below 110 percent of the federal poverty level; or<\/li><li>Qualify for school district special education services; or<\/li><li>Have developmental or environmental risk factors that could affect school success.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"857\" height=\"312\" src=\"https:\/\/mlkspokane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/eceap001.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-780\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mlkspokane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/eceap001.png 857w, https:\/\/mlkspokane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/eceap001-300x109.png 300w, https:\/\/mlkspokane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/eceap001-768x280.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 857px) 100vw, 857px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background\">ECEAP long-term benefits<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background\">Nationwide, children involved in high-quality programs like ECEAP are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><li>Healthier when they start kindergarten<\/li><li>Less likely to be in special education or repeat a grade in school<\/li><li>More likely to graduate from high school and go to college<\/li><li>Less likely to become pregnant as a teen or become involved in a crime<\/li><li>More likely to be employed and earn more as an adult.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) The Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) is a free preschool program for eligible children and their families.
